About Summer Joy
"In service of the music, I live to serve the music. Music is the higher-power, it is a form of divinity, it is the otherland. I act as a vessel. The music is manifestation of magic; it is addictive, intoxicating, it overtakes. Hear the whisper of something more. Be prolific, songs were a sermon. This is where I exist, the world I want to build myself in. Rockstar meets fairy. Sand through your fingertips. My own little magic."
Born in Toronto and growing up in London (U.K.) and Paris (France), Summer Joy's ear was influenced by psychedelic rock, house, and folk music. She found her own voice through Mazzy Star, Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney, and Joni Mitchell. Summer Joy writes about politics of the internal world and external world. She loves to read Joan Didion and is a strong advocate of always having a dog. She currently lives in New York City and Los Angeles.
